It all happened on our 1 year anniversary. Shawn and i had talked about our future together earlier in the year but I never thought that it would be soon soon into our relationship that he would ask that fateful question. LIttle do I know that my parents (and his) already knew what was going to happen.
It was July 17th, 2005. I was working at my weekend job and he surprised me with 1/2dozen roses! At first I thought why not 12! I know that probably is not the reaction he was looking for but it was my first reaction. Later that day we went out for a nice quiet dinner at the Holiday Inn. He had arranged for another 1/2dozen roses to be placed on the table. So did I feel like an idiot about how I reacted in the morning!
After dinner we went for a walk down on the waterfront. As we were walking the sun was starting to set and he asked me to sit down on some rocks and watch the sun go down. Ok course I said I would. Then he stood up and asked me to give him a hug. Well then he dropped to 1 knee and said his little speech, to this day I can't remember the exact words, and he asked me to marry him. Of course I said YES!!
We walked back to the car and were going to listen to our song, but he noticed that he locked his keys in the car! I refer to that as a "shawn moment" which he has once a day. Once his dad came with the keys the perfect evening continued!
